heat transport?

發問:

the ends of an insulated copper rod of radius 2 cm and length 40 cm are maintained at 0 ℃ and 60 ℃.(A)what is the rate of heat flow through the rod?(B)what is the tem-perature at a point 10 cm from the hot end when a steady state is reached?

最佳解答:

(A) First of all, the figure has to be quoted for copper which is 401 W·m?1·K?1. Also, applying the equation: heat flow rate = (thermal conductivity × area × temperature difference) / distance We have: Cross-sectional area of the copper rod = π(0.02)2 cm1 Temperature difference = 60K Distance = 0.4m Therefore, Heat flow rate = 401 × π(0.02)2 × 60 / 0.4 = 75.6 J/s (B) By the linearity of the temperature districution along the copper rod, we have: Temperature at 10 cm from the hot end = 60 - (10/40) × (60 - 0) = 45°C
